Match results for Saturday 30 May 2015 The 1sts travelled to Lowestoft and batting first, struggled to score runs against the Lowestoft spin attack on a difficult batting wicket and were bowled out for 119 off 45 overs. In the field, Garby fought back hard and took 7 of the Lowestoft wickets before the hosts caught up with Garboldisham’s 119, to win by 3 wickets. The 2nds were at home against Old Catton. The visitors batted first and clocked up 202 for 8. In reply, Garby’s batting coughed and spluttered with only the wicket keeper, Lewis Taylor (who’d had a good day behind the stumps) being able to assemble a decent amount of runs. Lewis was trotting along well on 40 odd runs or so until a forced change of bats saw him spoon a shot up only to be caught at mid-off. Garboldisham were bowled out and finished way short on 120. It was the fifth loss in a row for the 2nds who are struggling to find their form and get back to full strength. …
Garboldisham 1sts v Mattishall, Saturday 23 May 2015 Wicket keeper Pascal Walker, slips Danny Cash and Tom Ling and gulley Andrew Whistler are poised and ready. Garboldisham had clocked up 248 for 5 but Mattishall were bowled out for just 88 from a fiery bowling attack that included 5 wickets for Andy Emms. In the background and poking through the trees, you can make out the Garboldisham Manor clock tower. A Garboldisham Twenty 20 side pictured above, faced Scole FC and Podington CC in a three way T20 charity tournament at the GCC beer festival at The Langley on Sunday 24 May. The club had two very special polypins of bitter brewed in memory of Ian Melvin and Chris Bunning and before proceedings began, Peter Barnes declared the beer officially ready for drinking. Match results for Saturday 23 May 2015 The 1st team hosted Mattishall at home and picked up a maximum 25 points to push them up to the middle of the league table in Division 1 of the Dipple & Conway Norfolk Cricket Alliance. Batting first, Garboldisham scored 248 for 5 wickets with Kristian Williman clocking up a century and finishing on 121 runs! In reply, Mattishall struggled to squeeze out 88 runs before being bowled out. Pick of the Garby bowlers was Andy Emms who took five wickets. It was a very satisfying day for the Firsts who are slowly getting back to full strength with the return of lads from uni’ and it was good to see Henry Phoenix and Harry Youngson back on the field. Well done to all – a great win! It was another disappointing day for Andy Freake and the 2nds who have still to get a win under their belts. The Langley, Wednesday 20 May, 3.30pm, 2015 The pitch had just been mown and the wicket rolled ready for an U15 game later in the evening and the sun was shining and lighting up dark storm clouds. Five minutes later there was a torrential gale and hail storm that lasted for a good 10 minutes which left the wicket flooded with half an inch of water. After another quarter of an hour the sun was blazing down again… Crazy weather.
