About Garboldisham cricket club

father timeThe club has been in existence at ‘The Langley’ for over 150 years, and photos dating back to its early days adorn the walls of the clubhouse which was built in 1993 and extended in 2010. This major project made a significant improvement to the playing and social facilities. There are now four team changing rooms with showers and toilets, an umpires’ changing room, a fully fitted kitchen and bar and a large function area. With two high quality pitches and extensive training nets, Garboldisham Cricket Club is considered to be one of the best venues in the East of England and regularly hosts County teams.

We currently have four senior teams in the Norfolk Cricket Alliance League and Norfolk Cricket League, as well as the Carter Cup competition. Our First XI were Norfolk Alliance Division One champions in 2015 and now play in the Alliance Premier League. Our Second team (Garboldisham A) were Alliance Division Four champions in 2017 and won promotion to Division Three. In 2014 our Alliance teams were awarded the Club of the Year Trophy. Our Third XI (Garboldisham B) play in Division Two of the Norfolk Cricket League. The Fourth team play in Division Four (West) of the Norfolk Cricket League. We also have a six-a-side team who play in the Breckland Indoor Cricket League which Garboldisham won in early 2015 and a women’s six-a-side team who won the Norfolk Women’s Indoor League in 2015 and 2016!

The Junior Boys field teams at Under 9, Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 in the Norfolk Alliance Junior League and the South Norfolk Community League. We also have an U17 team that play in the South Norfolk Community League. Our U17s are holders of the now disbanded Junior Carter Cup which they won in 2011 and again in 2013. This competition brought together the best U17 sides from across the county and many of the boys who starred in those winning teams now regularly play in the adult sides.

The Club has several women and girl members who play in the adult teams and in the boys’ teams.

Garboldisham CC was awarded ECB Clubmark status in 2011 and is recognised as being a safe, effective and child friendly club. We are a thriving club and new members, both adults and juniors, are always welcome.
