On the final day of the season, Kieran Pask took 6 wickets against his old club Diss to help GCC 1st XI to a three wicket victory and a second place finish in the Norfolk Alliance Premier League in only their first season of top-flight cricket! It wraps up a fantastic season for captain Danny Cash and the 1sts that includes winning the Lady Mary Trophy last weekend. Garboldisham won the toss at Rectory Meadow and put Diss in to bat and it wasn’t long before Kieran Pask was tearing through Diss’s top and middle order with a ruthless display of bowling. Two more wickets from Dan Constable and one apiece from Alex Hogg and Rob Fuller had Diss bowled out for just 114 in the 36th over. However, it wasn’t all plain sailing in reply with Garby losing 7 wickets before they were safely over the line. Dan Constable picked up his 6th half century for the 1sts.

It was disappointment for the 2nd XI who narrowly missed out on promotion after losing their final game of the season at home to Hethersett and Tas Valley – which saw them drop down to third place in the league. But it’s not all doom and gloom for the 2nds – under the new captaincy of Paul Feavearyear they’ve had an excellent run having topped the table for most of the season.

The 3rd XI had a thrilling high scoring match at East Harling. They won the toss and chose to bat first, and big knocks from Harry Youngson (85) and Dick Culling (70) helped them to 245-7 after their 45 overs. Harling weren’t to be outdone by their neighbours and fought back with a big innings themselves, chasing down Garby’s total to finish on 247-6 in the 43rd over with a 4 wicket win. The 3rds finish their season in third place.

The 4ths were at home to Diss 3rd XI who won the toss and elected to field. Garby scored 234-8 off 40 overs with a good knock from the Baker boys (Joe 34, Paul 44) and 28 each for Neville Kemp and Mark Snowling. 4 wickets for 16 runs from Blake Ingrams helped Garboldisham dismiss Diss for just 126 to give Garby an 86 run victory. The 4ths finish their season in fourth place.
