1sts thrash Fakenham + u15s through to semis

Kieran Pask (pictured left with Henry Phoenix in this photo from last season) took 5 wickets against Fakenham

Match summaries for Saturday 23 July

The 1st XI thrashed visitors Fakenham by a massive 10 wickets! Fakenham won the toss and elected to bat first but Kieran Pask tore through their top order taking 5-26 and with Gavin Barnes (3-16) and Alex Hogg (2-22) cleaning up the middle and tail, Fakenham found themselves bowled out for just 71 runs. Garby openers Dan Constable and Alex chased down the visitors’ total in just 11.4 overs with no wickets lost.

The 2nds still remain top of the Alliance Division 4 despite their second loss on the trot – this week to Martham who now move up to second place in the table and are snapping at Garby’s heels. Garboldisham won the toss and chose to bat first but never really got going and were all out for 127. Ben Asker was Garby’s highest scorer with 32. Martham lost 4 wickets in their chase but had the game wrapped up in 30 or so overs.

The 3rd XI were away to Heacham in a low scoring thriller. The hosts won the toss and elected to field and with bat in hand, a 10-man Garby side scored just 104-9 with Sam Baker picking up 22. But on their low scoring pitch, Heacham struggled with the bat as well, and were bowled out for 98 to finish just 7 runs short of Garby’s total.

The 4ths lost at home to Mellis. Mellis 346-8, Garboldisham 146 all out.

Well done to Garby u15s who beat Bungay in the 1/4 final of the Norfolk Alliance Andy Seeley Trophy on Monday 25 July. Despite missing captain Toby Culling who was away on holiday, the u15s clocked up a good win which will take them through to the semis. Special mention to youngster Elliot Hart who had scored 100 earlier in the day for Norfolk u10s against Suffolk, and who helped the u15s to victory that evening. The semi-final will be held week beginning 7 August and will be against either Horsford or Gt Witchingham. Details to follow.

Garby u11s have their NA 1/4 final this coming Sunday 31 July against Lowestoft at The Langley starting at 10am. Please come along to lend your support.
