U19 Foxes through to t20 finals day after resounding victory against Brooke

GCC U19 Foxes finished unbeaten and top of their group after a big, big win against Brooke Blaze and now progress through to the finals day at the county ground at Horsford on Sunday 6 September. Any dampness in the wicket from rain earlier in the day had completely dried out and the surface was hard and fast and perfect for batting on. Garboldisham won the toss and batted first with both Henry Phoenix and Kristian Williman picking up half centuries, and with high scoring from pretty much all the batsmen, Garby finished on a mind boggling 246 for 5. In reply Brooke fought back hard but once their first couple of wickets had tumbled then the rest fell at regular intervals and they finished on 130 or so for 7 in fading light. Captain Henry Phoenix was probably the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets with an assortment of slow ball bouncers and some whippier fast stuff. It was a great evening’s entertainment – thanks go to Jonny Leech for the music and Pete Gray for the barbie and of course to the U19s for some terrific high scoring cricket! Bring on finals day!
