Under 11s winning streak comes to an end in local derby

Friday 1st July Garboldisham 48 all out lost to Old Buckenham 49-4 by 3 wickets

After seven straight wins the U11s travelled the short trip for their first local derby v Old Buck. Captain James Davey lost the toss and was asked to bat first on a damp wicket. All the batsmen struggled with conditions and the first three were deceived by ‘double bouncers’ on the wet and slow wicket. Wickets fell at regular intervals and they were bowled out for just 48 in under 10 overs with Elliot Hart the only batsman to reach double figures scoring 11.

Knowing that they were up against it, Garby knew they would have to bowl and field well to stand any chance and a bright start saw 2 early wickets, both run outs – the first a direct hit by Elliot Hart, and the second, some good fielding by Ollie Howard. Ethan Harris picked up his first wicket of the season and Garby were right back in the game at 20-3. Daniel Worby then removed Buck’s 4th wicket with the aid of a fantastic one-handed worldie diving catch by Hart and Bucks were in trouble at 24-4. However, after this the Buck’s batsmen cruised to their target with 6 overs to spare.

A disappointing result but we will look to bounce back against Tas Valley this Sunday 10 July.
