With the nights starting to draw in, the decision was made to play 15 x 8 ball overs. Garboldisham won the toss and decided to bat, hoping to take advantage of the better light, but we quickly had a top order collapse and were 20 for 3. Then Dick Culling and Danny Moon consolidated things and both retired at the obligatory 30 before we had some entertainment from Paul Baker with a quick fire 24, and rolling back the years, Fred Ingram had some fine shots in his 21 before being run out. This left Garby well placed at 157.
In reply Topcroft were soon under pressure with Henry Mason getting a wicket in his first over and then Dave Fidler chipped in with a couple of wickets and Topcroft, despite being unbeaten in the competition until now, were suddenly struggling. As the light deteriorated they could only muster 116 for 7 and Garby had a good win to finish our over 40s season.
Over the 6 games this year, the results were a little disappointing having won 2, tied 1 and lost 3 but we will all be older and wiser next year so hopefully will all be improved in 2016!!! Thanks from Dick to all those who played this year especially those that came out of retirement or started new careers; hope you all enjoyed it!!
